Nicola Chernicoff was born and raised in Derbyshire in the United Kingdom. After training at a theater and arts school, she fulfilled her childhood ambition and became a successful dancer and singer in musical theater for several years before turning her hand to another passion, interior design.
She resumed her education at KLC School of Design in London and graduated in 2000. Nicola joined the team of interior designers working for world renowned interior designer Nina Campbell in London with projects ranging from international hotels and The World of Residensea (a luxury resort ship) to some of the most exclusive addresses in London.
In 2002, Nicola moved to Woodstock Designs in London and assisted Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill in all aspects of design, specializing in Period renovations for country house estates in the United Kingdom and internationally.
After moving to New York, Nicola was delighted to join Irwin Weiner Interiors in 2003. She has found Irwin’s unique designs to be a refreshing change in direction, with diverse and wide-ranging styles encompassing contemporary, traditional, and his signature "eclectic style" interiors.
Nicola lives with her husband and son in New Jersey, close to the bustling island of Manhattan -- and they are expecting the arrival of a new family member soon! Photo credit: dewdrop photography and design.
Irwin Weiner, ASID, was born and raised in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa. He took architectural courses and received a fine arts (graphic design) degree from University of Cape Town in 1982. In 1987, he received an interior design associate's degree summa cum laude from FIT, New York, and was the recipient of their Glen Boyles Award. In 2000, Irwin was the Dining By Design III designer for B&B Italia, New York. He is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers.
Since 1986, Irwin has provided residential design services for discerning clients from Hawaii to Baltimore, from Scarsdale and Park Avenue and East Hampton to Boca Raton and Chicago. The Irwin Weiner Interiors team provides priority attention to clients' projects, designing beautiful residential interiors that reflect good taste, the owner's personality, a predetermined budget, and livable style. A client's particular IWI look might be contemporary, traditional, eclectic, practical, or everything "with a special twist," but it is always tailored to the client's needs and interests. Irwin's work has been featured in the pages of Architectual Digest, the New York Times, art & antiques, Beautiful Homes, Meredith's Dream Baths, Women's Day, and many other fine publications.
Irwin and his partner have an apartment in Manhattan and a weekend home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Their weekend escape is a cozy farmhouse, constructed of old barge boards taken from decommissioned Delaware River vessels. Besides some lovely perennial gardens, guarded by a pair of antique English garden gnomes, his grounds boast a 1960s pool in the shape of an Absolut Vodka bottle and an outhouse that has been converted from a potty shed to a potting shed.
